Featured Presentation

Database Code Management – Source Control and Deployment Automation

Speaker: JR Shortall, Data architect and developer Diversant, LLC.

Summary: As data professionals, team leads or administrators, we are responsible for the databases that service our company and product line. Unlike .NET teams, many database teams don’t think about their tables, views, and stored procedures like objects in a project. In today’s development environment, with bigger and more critical deployments, a database needs to be deployed just like a .NET application or website. We will take a look at integrated development environment software, specifically Microsoft Visual Studio, which will allow us to manage our database project. And with the introduction of an IDE, we also have an opportunity to utilize automated deployment script generation and/or execution through software like Team Foundation Server.
