Triad SQL Server User Group

The Triad SQL Server Users Group (TSSUG); is a forum where Microsoft SQL Server database administrators and developers meet to learn more about the product, share ideas and make contact with other similar individuals. Our group is run by SQL Server professionals for the benefit of anyone interested in participating in the group.
All of our meetings are free and open to anyone who is interested in sharing their knowledge of SQL Server. Our meetings are generally held on the last Tuesday of every other month, unless otherwise noted. Food is no longer being provided, however you are welcome to bring in your own.

Kevin Goode presents Clustered Column Store Indexes: The Good, the Bad and the Scary

Language: English
Event Type: In-Person

Clustered Column Store Indexes are a powerful and tricky bit of technology.  This session will cover how clustered column store indexes work internally and what limitations and restrictions they have (no foreign keys is one of the fun ones).  We will then cover the benefits of clustered column stores and use cases where clustered column stores make sense and where they don’t.  Finally we will cover the use case I experimented with and the subsequent dump, case opened with Microsoft and the hot fix that resulted from the use of clustered column stores.
